  3. Its rivers Along the Saone: the famous farmers market on Sunday morning, old town’s buildings, and night illuminations…. Along the Rhone: peniches, universities, restaurants and night clubs along the river….

  4. The old town : Vieux Lyon Le Vieux Lyon, Quartier Saint Jean – famous for its restaurants, colorful architecture, cathedrals, nightlife and events organized throughout the year

  5. Its famous parcs • Parc de la Tete d’Or, in the center of Lyon, is famous for its rose garden, outdoor zoo and numerous running tracks and grass playgrounds • Parc de Miribel-Jonage, outside the city, offers a lot of sport activities and a lake where people swim

  6. Its roman vestiges Next to the Vieux Lyon, the vestiges of a roman theater dating from the are beautiful – it is a great walk to do

  7. Its wine and food • Lyon is the culinary town of France – some of the best restaurants are found in Lyon. Some of Lyon’s specialties include: • Boudin noir • Quenelles • Salade lyonnaise • etc • You have to go to a « Bouchon Lyonnais » (typical Lyon restaurant – usually quite small) and try it all! The Beaujolais Nouveau, Rhone Valley’s famous wine

Must sees • Traditional • Cathedrale de Fourviere : enjoy a wonderful view over the city • Opera National de Lyon : recently renovated, surprising architecture • Hotel de Ville • Museum of arts, on the Place des Terreaux • Modern • Cite internationale, along the Saone • Airport / TGV station of Saint-Exupery

  12. Where to go for fun?? • Shopping • Part Dieu : biggest mall in France, more than 260 stores and restaurants + movie theatre. Recently renovated. • Rue de la Republique : heart of the city, enjoy a walk from Ampere to the Place des Terreaux • Most businesses are closed on sundays
