  2. What we’ll be covering • Where we are with the new MCCN website • ‘Information for Patients’ section • ‘Your Health’ section • New areas to investigate • Online forum • Use of social networks • Request for feedback!

  3. Where are we now? • New MCCN site went live in September 08 • ~1000 new pages of patient information • Database of support groups • Links to local hospitals & organisations • Latest cancer news from the online media

  4. New developments… • Currently testing an online discussion forum • Allows people to log on, have conversations & discuss various topics • Limited to particular professional groups at this time – may expand to patients if the demand is there • Won’t work without visitors & support!

  5. Social Networking • Social network = Online community of people who share common interests • Huge number of people using sites such as Facebook and Youtube • Much wider demographic than many think • Already being trialled by organisations such as Macmillan and Cancer Research UK
