  6. Recent Activity • Support of Federal Economic Stimulus Package • Drafted and sent support letters to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand • Drafted and sent support letters to all NYS Congress Representatives • (Letters to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand are included)

  7. Recent Activity • Drafted and Disseminated NYSGISA Newsletter • This is the first edition of NYSGISA newsletter • Newsletter will be distributed on a quarterly basis • Intent is to keep NYSGISA members up to date on general NYSGISA as well as regional initiatives

  8. Recent Activity • Website Update Status • Will be revamping NYSGISA website this year • Have established RFP and scope of work • NYSGISA funding $2K of this effort

  9. Recent Activity • New York State 2009 Geospatial Summit • Planning underway. Will be held May 19th and 20th this year • Location is Proctor’s Theatre in Schenectady, New York • Speaker agenda will be released soon • Online payment option will be available this year!! • Visit website www.nygeosummit.org for more details

Recent Activity • Annual NYS GIS Conference • Collaborating and partnering with SUNY ESF to plan and improve conference • Will be involved with a variety of items including agenda development, speaker solicitation and outreach via NYSGISA regional chapters • This year the conference will be held October 25th – 27th in Lake Placid

Recent Activity • Outreach/Meetings with NYS Professional Organizations • New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE) • NYS Association of Counties (NYSAC) • NYS APA • The goal and intent is to educate, collaborate and strengthen communication with other professional organizations within NYS

Recent Activity • NYSGISA Membership Fee • Establishing an annual membership fee of $10 (Professional) and $5 (Students) • Dues and money collected will be targeted for education and outreach of geospatial technologies within NYS • This will be activated on website in the coming weeks. PayPal account will be integrated into the NYSGISA website

  13. Recent Activity • GISP Certification Stimulus • Awarded 4 GIS professionals with $250 award for successfully completing GISP certification. • Will continue to promote GISP certification on an annual basis

  14. Upcoming Endeavors • Working with New York State Practicing Institute of Engineers to offer PDH certified training opportunities • Continue to monitor, track and respond to potential proposed legislation regarding survey and GPS • Strengthen regional coordination with regular updates after NYSGISA Board Meetings • Improve website to make it easier for members to access information on NYSGISA, regional meetings and membership
