About SIU • Public agency under the auspices of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research • Service agency and a partner for institutions of higher education • National office for international programmes and initiatives in education • Promoter of internationalisation, cultural communication and international mobility

  3. Quota scheme Scholarships for full-degree studies in Norway Main objective: to contribute to capacity building through education • strengthen relations between Norway and the selected countries • contribute to internationalisation at Norwegian institutions of higher education • involves majority of universities and university colleges in Norway • normally Master and PhD

  4. Student mobility • 15 Norwegian HE institutions currently have bilateral cooperation agreements with 25 Brazilian partners • 2 Brazilian PhD-candidates completed in 2010 • 10 known visiting PhD students and young researchers from Brazil in Norway in 2011-2012 • Small number of Brazilians completing a PhD in Norway, but the number of visiting PhD students and young researchers has increased due to increased availability of funding
