  1. Road To Emmaus 2008 Prophecy School

  2. Settling Into the Truth • Just as soon as the people of God are sealed in their foreheads--it is not any seal or mark that can be seen, but a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved--just as soon as God's people are sealed and prepared for the shaking, it will come. Indeed, it has begun already; the judgments of God are now upon the land, . . . that we may know what is coming. {FLB 287.7}

  3. Question • What power is given to Christ? What are we expected to do with this? • Mat 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

  4. Scripture • Mat 28:18-20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

  5. Outline • Questions • Our Foundation • Our Foundation • Road to Emmaus (is it ours?) • Walk to Emmaus • Questions (12) • Conclusion • Result

  6. Question • Will our Faith be tested?

  7. Prophecy the Foundation • Every position of our faith will be searched into, and if we are not thorough Bible students, established, strengthened, settled, the wisdom of the world's great men will be too much for us.--Letter 12, 1886. {2SM 386.2}

  8. Question • What is the foundation of our faith and how is it tied into Prophecy?

  9. EGW • Prophecy the Foundation of Our Faith.--Ministers should present the sure word of prophecy as the foundation of the faith of Seventh-day Adventists. The prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation should be carefully studied, and in connection with them the words, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." {Ev 196.2}

  10. Road to Emmaus 2008 Prophecy School Our foundation

  11. Prophecy the Foundation • The prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation should be carefully studied, and in connection with them the words, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." {Ev 196.2}

  12. Prophecy the Foundation • The Word of God, just as it reads, is the ground of our faith. That Word is the sure word ofprophecy, and it demands implicit faith from all who claim to believe it.

  13. Prophecy the Foundation • It is authoritative, containing in itself the proof of its divine origin. "We have not followed cunningly-devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-witnesses of His majesty.”

  14. Prophecy the Foundation • "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." {ST, June 2, 1898 par. 8}

  15. Prophecy the Foundation • Paul declared that his change of faith had not been prompted by impulse or fanaticism, but had been brought about by overwhelming evidence.

  16. Prophecy the Foundation • In his presentation of the gospel he sought to make plain the prophecies relating to the first advent of Christ.

  17. Prophecy the Foundation • He showed conclusively that these prophecies had been literally fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. The foundation of his faith was the sure word of prophecy.{AA 124.3}

  18. Question • What is the first Prophecy of Christ in Scripture?

  19. Scripture Text • And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Gen 3:15 KJV

  20. EGW • The divine sentence pronounced against Satan after the fall of man, was also a prophecy, embracing all the ages to the close of time…

  21. EGW • and foreshadowing the great conflict to engage all the races of men who should live upon the earth. {GC88 505.1}

  22. EGW • The message proclaimed by the angel flying in the midst of heaven is the everlasting gospel, the same gospel that was declared in Eden when God said to the serpent,

  23. EGW • "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel" (Gen. 3:15).

  24. Question • What is the everlasting Gospel?

  25. Scripture Text • And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

  26. Scripture Text • Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (Rev 14:6-7 KJV)

  27. God’s Dealing with Man • The work of God in the earth presents, from age to age, a striking similarity in every great reformation or religious movement. The principles of God's dealing with men are ever the same.

  28. God’s Dealing with Man • The important movements of the present have their parallel in those of the past, and the experience of the church in former ages has lessons of great value for our own time.{GC Ch 19}

  29. Scripture Text • For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. (Mal 3:6 KJV)

  31. Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 • The disciples were unable to comprehend the meaning of the words of Christ, and needed the heavenly enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. This is the condition of the followers of Christ in these days just before his coming in the clouds of heaven.

  32. Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 • The things of earth have the supreme place in the heart, while the things of heaven are held in subordination. The people of God need the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, that the instruction of Christ may be brought to their remembrance.

  38. Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 • And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

  42. Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 • Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself

  43. Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 • And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

  44. Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 • But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

  45. Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 • And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
