  2. Class Procedure • Review HW paper over naming compounds. • Continue discussing synthesis and decomposition reactions. • Continue balancing equations. • Begin discussing single and double displacement reactions. • Re

  3. Learning Targets • I can identify the metal and non-metal of a compound • I can use Lewis Dot structure to demonstrate ionic bonding.

  4. Learning Targets 3) I can write ionic formulas using both Lewis dot structures and using oxidation numbers. 4) I can write ionic formulas using polyatomic ions.

  5. Learning Targets • I can use the flow chart provided to name both ionic and covalent compounds. • I can define Polar bonds • I can draw covalent bonds that exist between non-metal atoms.

  6. Learning Targets • 8) I can identify synthesis and decomposition reactions. • 9) I can balance chemical reactions. • 10) I can relate the idea of conservation of mass to balanced chemical reactions. • 11) I can identify single and double displacement reactions.

  7. Important Reminders • Study for Exams… • Exams will be next Wednesday and Thursday
