Introduction and background Rationale • Request from the school for learner development in ICT • Lack of resources • Do complete assignments electronically and to retrieve information from the Internet. • Learners can applied the necessary skills learned to complete school assignments • Start date: January 2014 • Still on going Portfolio Section C

Description of the project • Microsoft package/2010 Word Excel and PowerPoint Strengths • Learners are able to use skills to complete assignments at school • Retrieve information on Internet • The use of e-mail facilities Weaknesses • Different skills levels of learners, some never worked with computers before • Not having access to computers at school and home to practice skills learned • Internet sometimes slow of off and a few power failures Portfolio Section C

  6. How did the initiative work? Learners travelled from school to CPUT for computer sessions All sessions were presented by final year students and Dr Kalvin Whittles of the Mathematics Department Portfolio Section C

  7. Was there a local champion? • Denise Ontong who liaised with the school and CPUT and she’s also a representative of school’s Alumni association • She was project’s link with the institutions and community Portfolio Section C
