  1. Group 3 Discussion Workshop on Quality Assurance in Geographic Data Production

  2. Research Needs: QA-QC • Academic: • How are data samples related to data granularity? • How do you define Acceptable Quality Levels (AQL) ? (e.g. for different applications/types of end-users) • How to measure data heterogeneity to take it into account?

  3. Research Needs: QA-QC • Applied: • Common design and implementation of QA systems • QA procedures needed for specific user requirements? • ISO: • Are ISO relevant + sufficient? • Implementation examples-profiles? (as 19115) • + specifically for Topographic data

  4. Research Needs: Usability • What are the quality parameters relevant for end-users/applications • How can quality be communicated to end-users? (visualisation) – e.g. number, tables, maps, star diagram • Should ISO be extended to better encompass usability issues? (seems limited right now) • Quality and fusion of products: • How can one combine products of different quality without reducing the original quality? • Uncertainty/Reliability of metadata (= metaquality)

  5. Feedback on EuroSpec • Are ISO standards enough or too much? • ISO is good for data production but what about usability? • Difficulty to implement the standards (e.g. resources) • Having harmonized • QA-QC • Quality parameters • Accepted Quality Levels (AQL) • Testing of procedures
