  3. Concept • Homophones sound the same but have different spellings and different meanings • Example: 1. I went by themall to buy a dress. 2. I can see the sea from my window. • Non-Examples: 3. Today I will go to the store. 4. I see the look on your face.

  4. Importance • Help with understanding what we are reading. • Helps with spelling and making word choices in our writing that make sense. • Also, helps us prepare for the state test.

  5. Skill • Step 1- Read the sentence • Step 2- Ask yourself which word(s) would complete the sentence • Step 3- Use context clues to select the correct word to complete the sentence • Step 4- Read the sentence to make sure it makes sense.
