Introduction Objectives of the Could opportunity assessment are to : • identify applications, either existing or to be developed, for which Cloud Computing, either IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, BaaS could deliver significant benefits for minimum risks • launch and deliver one or several Cloud pilots on the basis of a business case • formalize a Cloud Computing roadmap based on lessons learned on the pilot(s) • Depending on selected pilot(s), project duration can be 2 to 6 months Key Business Issues • Allowing companies to share resources at a higher level, Cloud computing is a disruptive transformational technology creating opportunities for creating new business models as well as reducing IT OPEX & CAPEX, improving IT cost transparency and flexibility, reducing time cycle of IT service provisioning, optimizing CO2 footprint • However, Market is not yet fully matured on all offerings and Cloud computing risks and barriers can be significant • For which existing or new applications cloud computing can be applied ? • And with which Cloud models : Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Business as a Service (BaaS) ? Private, Public or Hybrid ?
