  3. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT ??? • We can all help to preserve and conserve the environment “By Practicing The 3R Concept”

  4. WHAT IS 3R? • 3R stands for: • Recycle • Reuse • Reduce

  5. HOW CAN 3R HELP TO PRESERVE & CONSERVE THE ENVIRONMENT?

  6. HOW TO PRESERVE & CONSERVE? • RECYCLE; • Turn things that would otherwise become waste into something valuable. • REUSE; • Reuse things by repairing them and/or donating it for charities. • REDUCE; • Reduce creating waste, use long lasting goods

  7. HOW DOES THIS HELP? • Reduce usage of natural resources to produce daily items • Example; Old newspaper Paper You can produce more papers without cutting down more trees! Recycle

  8. HOW DOES THIS HELP? • Reduce waste • Making our world a cleaner place • Save cost

  10. What did we do? • Observe the things dumped in the trash bin for three days at our homes for three days. • Compiled the information collected from our group.

  11. What did we observe? Items found in the trash bin-

  12. Were the items segregated before throwing into the garbage trucks?

  13. Items that could be Reused….. • Plastic Water Bottles – refill, gardening – planting, as flower vases • Cans – pen stands, storing things, gardening – planting

  14. Items that could be Recycled….. • Paper • Glass • Metals • Plastics

  15. According to your family members, where does the trash bin go once it leaves your house?

  16. SO, START NOW TO HELP SAVE THE WORLD! Here’s what you need to do!

  17. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH…..? • Plastic bags • Reuse • keep them for further use. • Reduce • avoid using plastic bags when buying things • bring paper/cloth bags instead

  18. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH…..? • Papers • Recycle; • Reuse paper for other purposes • For example papers for wrapping presents, use used paper to sketch or do calculation. • Send old newspapers to the recycling centre • Reduce; • Use online materials, avoid using papers excessively.

  19. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH…..? • Glass • Recycle; • Send to recycling centre • Reuse; • Reuse glass for other purposes such as vases or other decorations.

  20. WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH…..? • Metal • Such as aluminum can, steel etc. • Recycle- send it to recycling centre
