Let’s Learn and Play… • Many scientific words come from LATIN words. • Here are some examples: • Scope is Latin for “to see” …like a microscope • Sphere is Latin for “round” …like the hemisphere • Poda or Ped are Latin for “foot” …like pedometer • Ortho is Latin for “straight” or “upright” …like orthodontist • Gastro is Latin for “stomach” ….like gastronomer (a gourmet or someone who likes good food) • Want to play a game? • Stand up and watch the slides for directions
