Founding of Toyota • Toyota was founded August 28, 1937 • Toyota was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda (Yes it is spelled with a D) • Toyoda means “ fertal rice patties” so they changed it to Toyota so they would no be associated with Old Fashioned farming • Toyota’s headquarters are inToyota City, Aichi, Japan • Kiichiro founded his company from his fathers company Toyota industries that made automobiles. • In China Toyota is spelled “豊田”
