  3. Why do we need SACSCOC accreditation? • The Feds require it—otherwise no funding • UH System Board of Regents requires it • Grant applications require it • Marketing relies on it • Your future employers want your degree to be from an accredited college!

  4. And UHV will grow as we work toward REAFFIRMATION 2014! • Through Reaffirmation 2014 we will: • Review our goals, programs, and services to determine the extent to which they reflect our mission • Develop a QEP that will make a significant impact on student learning • Strengthen the involvement of all members of the UHV community

  5. Review of Programs The goal of reviewing our programs is to: • 1. Set goals for what you as students are learning in each of your courses and your programs of study; • 2. Assess to see if you are learning what we think you are learning; • 3. Review the assessment data to see how we can improve programs so that you have the best experiences possible.

  6. Review of Programs We’ll be reviewing: • Academic programs • Student Services • Administrative Services • Facilities • Finances • Athletics EVERYTHING THAT IS PART OF OUR UHV MISSION!

  7. Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) • A long-term plan or project in which human and financial resources are committed to support student learning outcomes. • The topic of the QEP is identified by UHV stakeholders—students, faculty, staff

  8. Focus Groups and Surveys We want your opinion – What has impacted your learning MOST at UHV? What would enhance the UHV experience? What do UHV graduates need to know and be able to do? What do you want to learn at UHV?

  9. How can the UHV Student Senate help? • Spread the word! • Give your opinion! • Learn about the assessment of your academic program! • PARTICIPATE!
