Learning Goals • Today’s session is Part 1 of a 2-part training: • How to get access to the VPATdb • How to search for VPATs and other accessibility information • How to submit corrections/additions • Part 2 will focus on how to contribute content and other advanced topics. • Are there any other topics that you would like to learn about today?

  3. What is the VPAT Database (VPATdb)? • The VPATdb is a central repository for sharing Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) and other accessibility documentation used in evaluating electronic and information technology (E&IT) related equipment. • The purpose of the VPATdb is to facilitate community interactions around the review and assessment of electronic and information technology (E&IT). • Information is collected by the Chancellor's Office, California State University campuses, and other organizations involved in accessible procurement and uploaded into the database.

  4. VPATdb Stats • As of April 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM PDT • 102 VPATdb users • 123 VPATs • 14 CSU campuses

  5. Who can get access to the VPATdb? • CSU faculty and staff • Other campuses and organizations involved in 508 procurements • Currently not allowing vendor access to the VPATdb

How to create an account on the VPATdb • Request an account • If you are a CSU faculty or staff member, contact your campus VPATdb administrator. http://ati.calstate.edu/mod/resource/view.php?id=156 • Otherwise, contact sogami@calstate.edu • You will receive an email with a link to join the VPATdb. • Select the link. • On the webpage, agree to the terms of use. • Create a password. • Select the Accept Invitation button.

  8. Logging into the VPATdb • The VPATdb is located at http://www.calstate.edu/vpat • In the upper right corner of the window, you will find two text fields. Enter your email address and password here. • Select the Login button. • To logout of the VPATdb, select the Logout button.

  9. Getting oriented - the VPATdb interface • Once logged into the VPATdb, there are several tasks that you can do: • Search for a VPAT • Browse by category • Update your user information • View the online help • View recently added VPATs • Add a VPAT

  10. Using the Search box • This allows you to type in the item or service that you want to find information about. • You can input a specific good, a category, model number, or keywords.

  12. Browse by category • Different way to search for VPATs. • Useful when the user knows the category of good they want, but do not have a specific model in mind. • Examples: • User needs a new laser printer • User wants to see all VPATs from Apple

Details pageWhen you select an item, you will be taken to a Details Page, containing: • Title/Name of good or service • Applicable categories for VPAT • Who uploaded the VPAT and when • Keywords • Version/mode • Download VPAT (VPAT from the company) • Format and size of company VPAT • Attachments • Submit corrections or additions • Accessibility Contact • History • Comments

  16. Updating your user information • On every page in the upper right corner of the window is a link called “Settings” • Select the “Settings” link to update your user information. • Here you can change: • Name • Position • Phone number • Password
