  11. Starting and Maintaining a Webcam Conversation Via MSN • The window will enlarge showing 2 video boxes. These boxes may take a while for anything to appear in, but they are preparing your webcam footage.

  12. Starting and Maintaining a Webcam Conversation Via MSN • Pay particular attention to the Volume receiving and the Volume transmitting bars • Properly adjusted sound levels should be similar to those depicted.

  13. Starting and Maintaining a Webcam Conversation Via MSN • Please insure that your Line out, or Volume Transmitting is VERY low, especially if you are not using a headset. If this is too high, it will create a feedback circuit. Do not worry if this seems too low, we will adjust the volume out on our end to insure you are heard. • Adjust your volume level slowly till you have achieved a comfortable listening level. This level should be below the level of your spoken voice for optimal clarity.

  14. Starting and Maintaining a Webcam Conversation Via MSN Open MIC System Closed MIC System A headset closes the loop that can be created by an open system. While wearing a headset may seem tedious at times, it is often preferable to blasting a classroom of professionals with a high-pitched squeal of feedback. • When using an open MIC system (such as a microphone on a desk with speakers) you can produce feedback. Feedback is when a sound loops through a system indefinitely creating a squeal. The only way to stop feedback, is to kill the loop by not allowing the MIC to pick up speaker output.
