  3. There are a lot of places named after M.I. Kutuzov in Moscow Kutuzov passage got its name in 1912 The underground station Kutuzovskaya was opened in 1958 Kutuzovkiy avenue got its name in 1957 Kutuzova lane got its name in 1925

Kutuzov street The street got its name in the honor of the commander Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov while being a part of the town Kuntsevo.A lot of places in Kuntsevo were named in order to commemorate the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812. After the inclusion of Kuntsevo into Moscow the street has kept its name.

  7. Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov (1745-1813) General-field marshal, the military commander of the Russian army during Patriotic War of 1812. Thanks to Kutuzov’s strategy the huge Napoleon’s army was almost totally destroyed. It should be highlighted that the victory was achieved by comparatively small losses of Russian army. The experience, which Kutuzov had got during wars between Russia and Turkey at the second part of the XVIII th century under the guidance of M.V. Suvorov, influenced Kutuzov’s military career.

Кутузова, огромная армия Наполеона была практически полностью уничтожена. Особенного внимания заслуживает тот факт, что победа была достигнута ценой относительно небольших потерь русской армии. Большое значение в формировании Кутузова как военачальника имел боевой опыт, накопленный им в период русско-турецких воин 2-ой половины XVIII в. под руководством А.В. Суворова.

  9. Barclaya street The first name of the street was Philskoye highway by a nearby village Phily and the river Philka. The street was renamed in 1962 to commemorate general field marshal, the Minister of War Michael Andreas Barclay de Tolly(1761—1818), who was a hero of the Patriotic War of 1812.

Michael Andreas Barclay de Tolly (1761-1818) Outstanding Russian military commander, general field marshal (from1814), the Minister of War, Prince (from1815), the Patriotic War of 1812 hero, holder of St George order. Napoleon forced Barclay to retreat when he threatened Barclay's only escape route. His rivals spread rumors of him being Napoleon's agent, and the populace condemned him as a coward. But his strategy proved to be a reasonable one and it saved Russia.

Награжден орденом Святого Георгия. Наполеон, угрожая отрезать войска Барклая, заставил его отступать. Недруги Барклая распространяли слухи о том, что он агент Наполеона, а общество заклеймило его как труса. Но стратегия Барклая де Толи оказалась разумной и спасла Россию.

  13. Bagrationovskaya underground station It started working in 1961 as a part of the underground line «Phily» — «Pionerskaya». It is situated under Barklaya street. It got its name in honor of the Patriotic War of 1812 hero Prince P.I. Bagration.

PyotrIvanovichBagration(1765-1812) He was a Russian general.At the beginning of the Patriotic War of 1812 he was the 2nd Army of the West commander Bagration was a supporter of the large peasant involvement into the war. He was one of the initiator of the Russian guerrilla movement. During the battle of Borodino he received a mortal wound, the shell splinter crushed general’s left leg bone. PyotrIvanovichBagration died in 17 days after the wounding from gangrene.

Багратион был сторонником вовлечения в войну крестьян и инициатором партизанского движения. На Бородинском поле он получил смертельную рану. Осколок ядра раздробил ему кость левой ноги. Петр Иванович Багратион умер 17 дней спустя от гангрены.

  17. General Raevsky street • The street got its name in 1961 in the memory of General Raevsky, the 7th infantry regiment commanding officer (1771 – 1829). • He distinguished himself in the defense of Smolensk and on the battlefield of Borodino.

  19. RaevskyNickolayNickolaevich(1771-1829) The Patriotic War of 1812 military hero, the cavalry general (1813). During his 30 years of military service he took part in many great battles of the time. After his heroic deed on the battle field of Saltanovka (where he took his two young sons into action to prevent his soldiers from retreating) he became the most popular Russian officer.

За 30 лет военной службы он принимал участие во многих великих сражениях своего времени. После подвига под Салтановкой(когда он повел за собой в бой двух своих малолетних сыновей, чтобы удержать солдат от отступления) он стал самым популярным российским офицером.

  21. Pestel street It was named after PavelIvanovichPestel(1793—1826) in 1974. Pestel took part in the Patriotic War of 1812. He was an outstanding conspirator in Decembrist uprising. He was a founder of the revolutionary “Southern Society”

  23. PavelIvanovichPestel(1793-1826) Taking part in the Patriotic War of 1812 he was seriously wounded on the battle field of Borodino. He was awarded a gold sword for courage. He was a founder of the revolutionary “Southern Society” He was a prominent figure in Decembrist revolt and he was executed by hanging in 1826.

  24. Павел Иванович Пестель (1793-1826) Принимая участие в Отечественной войне 1812 года, П.И. Пестель был серьезно ранен на Бородинском поле. За храбрость он был награжден золотой шпагой. П.И. Пестель был основателем революционного «Южного общества», выдающейся фигурой в восстании Декабристов и был повешен в 1826 году.

  29. VasilisaKozhina street A part of the 1stPhilskiy passage was renamed in 1962 in honor of VasilisaKozhina. The previous name was given by the village Phily and the river Philka. It is situated in the Moscow district where almost all streets have got their names to commemorate the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812

  30. Улица Василисы Кожиной В 1962 году первая часть Фильского проезда была переименована в честь партизанки Василисы Кожиной. Предыдущее имя было дано проезду по деревне Фили и речке Фильке. Улица расположена в московском районе, где почти все улицы названы в честь героев Отечественной войны 1812 года.

  31. VasilisaKozhina She was a wife of an elder of Sychyovka village near Smolensk. She organized a partisan detachment consisting of teenagers and women. All of them were armed with scythes, axes and pitchforks. During the retreat of Napoleon's troops from Moscow her guerrillas attacked French troops, captured prisoners and handed them to Russian regular army. For this feat VasilisaKozhina was awarded a medal and given some money in reward.

Во время отступления войск Наполеона из Москвы ее партизаны атаковали французские войска, брали пленных и передавали их регулярной русской армии. За подвиги Василиса Кожина была награждена медалью и деньгами.
