  2. Three sides of divorce • Divorce is often seen as being: • Beneficial • Harmful • Or a mixture of both For the children involved

  3. Research • Began looking at how divorce effects children of different ages • Then looked at whether divorce is good or bad for children • Realized that I should be looking rather at if the effects of divorce on children are good or bad

  4. Divorce is no good! Divorce is seen as no good because children of divorce are: • Twice as likely to drop out of school • Often embarrassed when peers find out • Stressful to not upset either parent

  5. Divorce is not all bad! Divorce can also be seen as being beneficial to children involved because: • The children can witnessing the happiness of their parents being either alone or with a new mate • Being open and talking frequently reassures the child that things are going to be ok • The child had the opportunity to spend individual time with each parent

  6. Challenges • Realizing how to write a paper of this type • Finding people who felt that divorce can be good • Remembering not to put my opinion in too much

  7. What I would do differently • Interview a child of divorce to get their opinion • Get more research on the parents perspective of how their children are effected • Find more information on divorce in other countries
