  3. THE CROSS as an offense to the Jews: 1. The Cross represents the pinnacle of Grace towards mankind 2. At the Cross any and all human good was rejected including obedience to the Mosaic Law 3. Therefore, anyone who loves a legalistic system more than grace will have a low view of the Cross

  5. Romans 8:21That the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. I Corinthians 10:29For why is my freedom judged by another's conscience?

  6. Galatians 2:4 But it was because of the false brethren who had sneaked in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage. Galatians 5:1It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

  7. Galatians 5:13For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. I Corinthians 8:9But take care lest this liberty of yours somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.

  8. I Peter 2:16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bond-slaves of God. John 8:32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

  9. II Peter 2:19Promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.

  10. Jesus Christ is our Precedent for Freedom: 1. Jesus Christ set the precedent at the cross Hebrews 5:8 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

  11. Jesus Christ is our Precedent for Freedom Cont: 2. His obedience at the cross results in our spiritual freedom 3. We need use our freedom for the learning, thinking, and applying of Bible doctrine 4. We are free in the Spirit and that means we are free to live the CCL in freedom, not bondage, serving God and others out of our freedom

  12. Jesus Christ is our Precedent for Freedom Cont: Here is a Rule: If, as you as progressing in your spiritual life, you are moving to greater bondage and law, there is a problem. If however you are moving towards greater freedom and grace, you are on the right path

  13. Romans 8:1-6Three areas of Freedom for the Believer: 1. Freedom from O.T. Law 2. Freedom from the O.S.N. 3. And the Freedom of Worship

  14. II Corinthians 3:17‑18 Now the Lord is the Spirit [Holy Spirit], and where the Spirit of the Lord is [in the body of the believer], there is [spiritual] freedom. But we all [royal family], with an unveiled face [filling of the Spirit], beholding as in a mirror [Word of God] the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory [humanity of Christ our precedent] to glory [momentum of believer], just as from the Spirit of the Lord [enabling power].
