Healthliteracyofadolescents in Germany • At present, thereishardlyanyknowledgeon etiology, genesisandexpressionofhealthliteracy in youngeragegroups • From references to the significance of health literacy for the adult population, analogous conclusions are drawn for children and adolescents Youth with a Turkish migration background: • have a low economic status • acquire a low educational qualification • have a low Health literacy level • are often affected by overweight • spend a lot of time with watching TV and on the Internet • drink less alcohol and smoke less than the autochthonous adolescents (Okan 2015; Quenzel et al. 2015; Horn et al. 2015; Schaefer et al. 2015; Messer et al. 2015, RKI 2008, Zwick 2011, Stiksrud 1994, Butterwegge 2010, Bonfadelli et al. 2008, Blasius et al. 2008, Kratzmann 2011, Unger 2000, Hepp 2011, Brettschenider et al., 2015) 1st World Congress on Migration, Ethnicity, RaceandHealth DiversityandHealth

  4. Research questions What routines can be observed in the everyday life of adolescents regarding to health-relevant practices? How can the health-related relationship or interaction between family members and young people be described? How can the health-related relationship or the interaction between adolescents be described? In which way do the adolescents describe health? Is health picked out as a central topic in the family setting and/or in the peer group directly and if so, along with which subject areas? Which health competencies do young people, family members and / or members of the peer group have? Are adolescents using new media to get health-related information? Understanding of Health “so we can understand health physically thatthe organs and thus function and are in the good state and spiritually that one can learn normally and can act” (Participant Z) “[….]one just has no illnesses. But now, for example, influenza does not belong to it if one lies now thus for one week in the bed because the influenza, that leaves again. And thus right illnesses, they do not leave again.   11. The role of New Media on the health- related every day life of female adolescents “So first of all, I check my social media sites, like Instagram, Snapchat [...]. And then, if there was not that much going on, I watch my shows mostly on the notebook and when I'm too lazy to start my notebook, I prefer my mobile phone.” (Participant L) “So my first point of reference is actually Google, since I enter my question and mostly get answers, but it is hard to find a homepage, which is easy to understand” (Participant L)
