  2. Opening Ceremony President: (raps the gavel twice) The meeting will come to order. (rap the gavel three times, signaling the officers and members to stand, and says: ) We are the members of the California association of FHA-HERO. Our objective is to help individuals improve personal, family, and community living. Officers, upon what do our activities focus? Officers: Our activities focus on individual growth, preparation for family life, development of skills for careers, and the participation of youth in today’s society. President: Members, as we work towards the accomplishments of our goals, what do we learn? Members: As members, we learn cooperation, take responsibility, develop leadership and give service. President: The first general meeting of the John A. Rowland Chapter of the California association FHA-HERO is now in session, you may be seated.(rap the gavel once)

What is FHA-HERO? • Pre-professional Organization for students enrolled in Home Economics Careers and Technology (HECT) courses in Grades 6-12. • Prepares students for their roles as family members, leaders, citizens, and employees. • Provides opportunities for self-development and preparation for family and community living and for employment. • Nationally (FCCLA), State, Region , RHS CHAPTER! • We are REGION 9! (Los Angeles, OC, Ventura)

Where Do My FHA-HERO Dues Go? • RHS Member Dues$10.00 dues = • $9.00 National Dues • Depends State Dues • $0 Regional Dues • $1.00 Chapter Dues • StateMeeting Members Pay = • $80Paid by Member in March • T-Shirt Cost = $5.00 w/ASB$10.00 without • What do I Get for my Chapter Dues? • Fall Region Mtg. FREE ($5 per person to attend) • Spring Region CRE’s FREE ($5 per person to attend) • Club Socials FREE per person each for food • Transportation to events FREE • State Meeting $80 per person (reg. alone=$269!) • (**Includes Hotel, bus, registration) • Total = $100

  8. WHAT DO WE DO…as a REGION and STATE? • Fall and Spring Meetings • COMPETE at Region AND State level! • Advance to STATE LEVEL, STATE LEADERSHIP MEETING!

COMPETITION, COMPETITION! • What are COMPETITIONS? • Junior Division (7th-9th grade)& Senior Division (10th-12th grade) • EVENTS INCLUDE: • Prepared speech, job application & interview, creed recitation (Jr. division only) menu planning and table display, child development, teaching careers, energy and resource conservation, consumer education, AND MUCH MORE!

  10. REQUIREMENTS! YES, there are requirements! • IF you are in the 10th, 11th, 12th grades you NEED to be in a FCS or ROP class! • IF you are a Freshman, it’s okay if your NOT enrolled in a class -ONLY for your Freshman year. • 20+ community service hours within FHA-HERO in order to compete! • Pay your Membership FEE of $10by October 22

Closing Ceremony President:(raps the gavel three times, signaling the officers and members to stand, and says: ) We are challenged to accept the responsibility of upholding beliefs and purposes of our association. Let us reaffirm the value of FHA-HERO in our lives. Members: As members, we gain a better understanding of justice, courage, integrity, cooperation, and trust. We will use these ideals to contribute to the betterment of our homes, communities, and careers. President: Thefirst John A. Rowland Chapter general meeting of the California Association FHA-HERO is now adjourned. (raps the gavel once)
