When sufficiently developed, binaries for public testing appeared in September 2002 under the name Phoenix. • The Phoenix name was retained until April 14, 2003 • The name, "Firefox", was chosen for its similarity to "Firebird” in December 2003 • The Mozilla Firefox project was created by Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross as an experimental branch of the Mozilla project. Firefox 1.0 was released on November 9, 2004. Firefox 1.5 was released on November 29, 2005. Version 2.0 was released on October 24, 2006 and Firefox 3.0 was released on June 17, 2008. Version 3.5 was released on June 30, 2009 and Version 3.6 was released on January 21, 2010.
