  1. My Music Magazine.

  2. The Genre of my Music Magazine I have chosen a ‘Pop Music’ genre for my magazine. The first reason i have decided to choose this genre is that I feel I know a lot about this type of genre. I am aware of what artists and groups which would fit into this genre and I could use this to my advantage by creating a cover including a variety of artists. I also feel this type of genre would appeal to a mass market. Pop music is incredibly popular with a variety of ages and would appeal to a big audience.

  3. How would i conduct my market research? I would use a variety of research methods to see what would be suitable to include into my music magazine. I would firstly create a questionnaire and ask people who like the ‘pop music genre’ what they would like to see in a pop music magazine and use my results from this to help to decide what to put into my magazine. I would also look at other pop music magazines on the markets and see what techniques they uses to create a successful music magazine. Magazines I would look at are Top of the Pops and Smash Hits as they both were and are incredibly popular.

  4. My target market. I would like my target market to be teenagers for my music magazine. I feel this would be a suitable age range for me to work with as i know what teenagers like to read about as I am one myself. I also feel there are a lot of pop music artists which appeal to teenagers and therefore I would have a wide variety of artists which I could include into my magazine. I would like to aim for the age range of 14-18 year olds as I feel it is a wide and mass market.

  5. Reader Profile Below I included a stereo typical images of someone who I would like to read my magazine. Sammy is a 16 year old teenager who lives with her parents and two sisters in a small village in England. Sammy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going out to music concerts, shopping and dance. Sammy considers herself as a friendly, kind and outgoing teenager who in her free time enjoys listening to music and catching up with the latest celebrity gossip. Sammy is part of a large group of friends of who have similar interests to herself. Sammy has a part time job in her local pub waitressing and greeting the locals who come in for their weekend pint and taking part in friendly banter. Sammy particularly enjoys listening to pop music and has posters and pictures of her favourite pop groups and artists in her bedroom. She especially likes groups such as The Wanted and One Direction but also is a fan of Olly Murrs , Pixie Lott and The Saturdays.

  6. Magazine Name & Tagline. I have decided on the name ‘Charts’ I feel this name is relevant for the theme of my magazine and it is also recognisable. I feel the word ‘Charts’ can show the magazine has the latest chart music news inside and will appeal to Pop music lovers. It is a short and snappy title which is easy to say so people would remember it. Tagline - ‘Your pop, your way’ I feel this tagline if effective as it fits in with the genre of my magazine. By using ‘Your’ it is personal to the reader.

  7. My front cover. I want my cover to stand out from other magazines on the market. I want my cover to have lots of colour and a variety of pictures on the cover so it will intrigue readers. On my cover I want to put one big main picture of an artist/group which is popular in the pop music market then on the side i will have column inches with separate smaller stories but will still be of great interest to the reader. I will just a basic text which is bold but easy to read so it does not overcrowd the page.

  8. Planned content. In my magazine I would like to include articles which would interest myself so I know people like me who are a fan of pop music would be interested in buying the magazine. I would like to include latest celebrity gossip and would also be interested in creating a ‘Celebrity Rumours Page’ I would also like to have a variety of competitions in my magazines as I know from my student magazine that competitions were incredibly popular with my target market who were also teenagers. I would also like to have exclusive interviews with celebrities which no other magazine would have.

  9. USP. I feel my magazine has many USPS’s -There is currently no other pop music magazines on the market for older teenagers. Competitive pop music magazines aim there magazine at young teenagers. My magazine is aimed at elder teens and would have topics which would interest them more than competitive magazines. -My magazine would be produced weekly so it would have the latest news and gossip compared to other pop music magazines which would be produced monthly or every 2 weeks. -My magazine would have exclusive interviews and stories before any other magazine on the market due to it being produced weekly.

  10. Editorial mission statement I want to create a Pop music magazine for older teenagers where it has all the latest pop news, gossip and exclusive features. I feel this magazine would be unique to the magazine market as it would be the only Pop music magazine on the market aimed at elder teenagers giving my magazine the perfect place in the market. I want my magazine to include lots of colours and bold text so my magazine will stand out. I feel I the knowledge of pop music and pop artists to include all the relevant information needed into my magazine. I want my magazine to be at a fair and reasonably cheap price as the majority of teenagers aren't prepared to pay a large sum of money for a magazine.
