MISSION USF World leads the university’s engagement with world by providing resources that empower the university community to function as global leaders and global stewards. • GOALS • Promote a Global Culture at the University of South Florida • Globalize Student Success • Enhance Global Initiatives within the University System • Deepen Global Engagement with the Tampa Bay Community

Advancing Institutional Priorities • Articulation of global engagement as an institutional priority in recognition of the growing trend toward greater internationalization of higher education. • Development of goals and metrics: Global citizenship; globally informed academic programs; high impact global research and innovation; leveraging international partnerships; mapping the institution’s global footprint (USF Strategic Plan 2013-18).

Recognizing Institutional Need Inbound international students and scholars: SEVIS and DHS Outbound USF students: Terra Dotta/Studio Abroad Outbound USF faculty: unmet need for tracking and reporting activities and engagement International Partnerships: unmet need for a systematic process for monitoring and evaluating existing and new agreements. Alumni living and working abroad: adhoc and outdated information; not readily accessible.

Initial Buy-In • A strong and persuasive cheer-leader(s) • Cultivate the support and/or investment of multiple stakeholders • Focus groups/Outreach • Partnerships across administrative units – build bridges • Encourage engagement • Listen to your stakeholders • Features; Feel; Feasibility, Flexibility • Continue the dialogue during development

Encouraging Adoption • User experience • Keep users in mind first and foremost • User time constraints • Ease of use • Speed of service • Desired features (value added) • Appeal for multiple audiences • Pre-populate as much data as possible • (API or manual entry) • Consistency • Within and across modules • Branding

Sequential Roll-Out • Start with a small, highly invested group • Administration • Pilot with a knowledgeable and engaged group • Faculty from Focus Groups and Work Groups • Pilot with a larger but homogeneous group • A single department, college or institute • At each stage obtain feedback and resolve problems/usability issues before rolling out on a larger scale • Refine as necessary • Experience demonstrates that we have “one shot” to engage users and “sell” the value of the product
