    1. Dakota County Attorney's Office Child Protection and CHIPS Process in Dakota County Report is received by Dakota County Child Protection or Law Enforcement Agencies cross report and determine whether Law Enforcement will be involved in investigation (only if possible criminal violation) Child may be placed on a 72-hour hold if in imminent danger

Dakota County Attorney's Office Child Protection and CHIPS Process in Dakota County Investigation completed and determinations of maltreatment/no maltreatment, services needed/no services needed If services needed and family does not cooperate voluntarily, then case referred to County Attorney’s Office Social worker meets with Assistant County Attorney to discuss case and, where appropriate, file a CHIPS petition
