  1. MIRS Operational Implementation at OSDPD Aiwu Li Jan 4, 2008

  2. Implementation Steps • MIRS main-processing implementation (EDR retrieval processing) • MIRS post-processing implementation (HDF-EOS processing) • MIRS CM Procedure • MIRS onto OPUS • MIRS Monitoring system

  3. MIRS Main-processing • Unit test of the orbital processing on the required steps on AIX development machine. • Comparison of the testing run results to the benchmark data • Make necessary code changes (f90, Makefiles, scripts, etc) to fit the operational standards. Recompile all modules with links to AIX utility libraries. • Generate a clean version MIRS by simplifying the data directory structure, removing unused static files and directories, etc. • Test runs using the sample N18 and MetOp datasets. Make sure the output EDR/DEP files match the benchmark data. • Redirect the input data to realtime1B data directory to make sure the arrival of an orbital 1B file can trigger the processing. • Test run on the bad case orbits to verify the fixing of known bugs. • Write/modify the driver script for scheduling MIRS orbital processing to run from crontab on the development machine

  4. MIRS Post-processing • Write/modify the module that extracts selected product data from EDR/DEP files. • Write/modify the module that formats the product data into HDF-EOS format • Recompile the modules with new MIRS library • Write/modify the driver script for the post-processing • Add the post-processing into main driver script and schedule it to run from crontab. • Set up distribute rules for pushing the final HDF data files to DDS server • Validate the final products in the HDF file

  5. MIRS CM Procedure • Rewrite/modify Makefiles with unique file names • Add make-targets(checkout, checkout_mk, realclean, etc) to each Makefiles to allow the re-building of MIRS modules from RCS • Write MIRS application installation script (Install_MIRS) to checkout source code and static data files from RCS, set up directory structure, and install/rebuild MIRS system from RCS . • Promote all source code, required static data files of the operational version MIRS into RCS.

  6. MIRS onto OPUS • Install clean version MIRS from RCS using MIRS product account on development machine. • Test run on the realtime 1B data from crontab. • Mirror the MIRS directory/files(except /src) onto the operational AIX machine (Emerald/Diamond) • Set up distribute rules for pushing the final HDF data files to DDS server • Implement MIRS main driver script onto OPUS

  7. MIRS Monitoring System • Update MIRS product image plotting software on intranet web server • Update MIRS product monitoring web page on intranet • Update MIRS product page on OSDPD web server • Update MIRS Processing system timeliness monitoring
