  1. G e o r g e O r w e l l ( 1 9 0 3 – 1 9 5 0 ) Created by Biljana Damnjanović- Pavlović, Primary School “Vuk Karadžić”, Kruševac

  2. -born in India/educated at Eton/wrote books about social problems • -best known novels: • ANIMAL FARM (1945) • NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR (1949)

  3. 1 • The book NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR was published in 1949 by George Orwell . • In the book, by 1984the world was divided in three parts: Oceania, Eastasia and Euroasia.

  4. 2 In Oceania,a totalitarian state has been created by the party . Everybody is controlled and watched by Big Brother, looking for any disloyalty.

  5. 3 • Animal Farm was published by Orwellin 1945. • The book waswritten in the form of traditional beast fables. In the story the revolution was led by pigs and the farm was taken over.

  6. 4 • The farmer is driven away by the animals and the animal republic is established. • The name of the farm is changed from Manor Farm to Animal Farm.

  7. 5 • Seven commandments are set by the animals. • The commandments are written on the wall in big white letters so that they can be seen by everybody.

  8. 1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. • 3. No animal shall wear clothes. • 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. • 5. No animal shall drink alcohol. • 6. No animal shall kill any other animal. • 7. All animals are equal.

  9. 6 • But the original idea of equality was corrupted by the internal power-struggles. • In the end pigs started wearing clothes, sleeping in beds and drank alcohol. • Only one commandment was left on the wall:

  10. ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS!

  11. The creatures from outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again, but already it was impossible to say which was which. THE END
