U.S.D.A. • 7 mission areas: • Rural development • Farm & foreign agricultural services • Food, nutrition and consumer services • Food safety • Natural resources & the environment • Research, education & economics • Marketing and regulatory programs • These missions involve over 200 programs administered by 18 primary Departmental Services; one is the Farm Service Agency

COUNTY COMMITTEE • County Committee • A 3-5 person committee elected by their local peers in November of each year • Committee then: • Provides local representation for federal programs • Provides direction for local program operations • Makes decisions on how to apply the program locally • Ensure producers are treated fairly through due process • This gives farmers a say in how federal action affect their communities and their individual operations

  7. FSA IS A LEAD AGENCY • On administering Conservation Reserve Program • Provide support to other conservation programs • Preserving and promoting American Agriculture
