    14. Introduction Congratulations! You have been selected for the very exciting and dangerous Antarctic Adventure. You and three other explorers will travel to Antarctica to explore and study the animals that make up the food chain. Your mission begins immediately. Pack your snow gear and plenty of food, it could get rough out there! Your team will include: A biologist, your report will include what types of animals and organisms live in Antarctica. You will explore the environments these animals live in and what they do to survive the harsh weather. An anthropologist, you will report what kinds of people have inhabited this area, and who lives there today. A botanist, you will explore what types of plants live in Antarctica. You will report what purpose some of these plant life in the chain of life. An environmentalist, you will report about the preservation of the land. You will explore the measures that must be taken to preserve the beautiful land of Antarctica. Good Luck Explorers!

    15. Task You and your teammates will prepare a persuasive report to present to the Committee for Environmental Conservation. Your report will persuade the Committee to support or dismiss the bill to protect and preserve the land and living species of Antarctica. While compiling your research for the report, consider the following questions: 1. What types of plant and animal life dwell in Antarctica? 2. What types of people have lived and presently live in Antarctica? 3. Is Antarctica worth preserving and protecting? 4. What are the advantages to preserving and protecting the land of Antarctica?

    16. Process You will start by picking the members of your team. (4 members) Once you are in your groups, discuss the roles each of you will play. Each role is extremely important to this mission. Spend about ten minutes discussing the focus of each group member. (Remember that you are preparing a persuasive report. Each group member must be a dedicated explorer to make this report valuable.) At this time each explorer will go off and begin their individual mission as members of the Antarctic Adventure exploration team. Each explorer will research their individual area of expertise.
