Pros
  • Maps of all of the Continents and major Oceans (Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, Antarctic and Indian)
  • Often, both geophysical and geopolitical maps are available
  • Ocean depths and physical features such as ridges, trenches and seamounts are identified
  • Zoom tool so you can scan broadly or zoom in to get more detail of a particular area
  • Puzzles and maps of the day are also available
slide7
Cons
  • Elevation and depth data is somewhat limited
  • Resolution and detail is not as precise as Google Earth
  • Need to have Adobe Flash Player (which can be downloaded - free)
  • Would be nice to get a more detailed map of the North Atlantic Note: Canadian Marine Multibeam Bathymetric Data
  • No lesson plans are available – you would have to design activities yourself
