  2. The Cricket Pitch The pitch is the central strip on the field between the two wickets. The pitch can either be artificial or natural.

  3. Features of the Pitch The shape of the pitch is rectangular. The pitch is 22 yards in length. Surface is very flat and covered with extremely short grass.

  4. The crease is marked by white lines on the field of play. There are four different creases on the pitch: one popping crease, one bowling crease and two return creases.

  6. Fielding Fielding is the action of the fielders in collecting the ball after it is struck by a batsman.

  7. Fielding Positions Fielding positions in cricket can be divided into offside and leg side. The offside is the side square of the wicket to the batsman and leg side is opposite to the square of the wicket.

  9. Long barrier is a fielding technique used to stop the ball in cricket. The Long Barrier

  10. How to do the Long Barrier Get in line with the ball. Twist the upper body. Place one knee on the ground in line with the heel of the next foot.

  11. lead forward with the shoulder furthest from the ball. fingers should be pointing down with head over the ball and head forward.

  12. Both little fingers together with the other fingers widely spread. Pick up the ball then stand up and prepare to deliver an over arm throw.

  13. The Long Barrier Technique

  14. Short barrier technique This technique is used when the fielder is trying to stop the ball and return it to the wicketkeeper quickly.

  15. How to do the Short Barrier • Fielder gets in line with the ball. • Both heels are then place together. • Hands are then extended between both heels to pick up the ball.
