  2. Suicide is very serious. You should ALWAYS take someone seriously if they talk about committing suicide.

Do you know what to look for?These are signs of someone who may be getting ready to commit suicide: • Talking about or being preoccupied with death or suicide • Expressing a plan to commit suicide • No interest in the future • Talking about “going away” • Giving away possessions, making a will or final arrangements

  4. More signs include: • Talking about feeling hopeless or guilty • Pulling away from family and friends • Lose desire to take part in activities. • Can’t concentrate or think clearly • Self destructive behavior

  5. If you think someone you know is thinking about suicide: • Stay with them, show concern and talk to them. • Come right out and ask if they are thinking about it. • Encourage them to get help or counseling. • Encourage or help them make a personal safety plan.

  6. One last thing… If you are concerned that someone is thinking of suicide and you don’t know what else to do, CALL THE POLICE or dial 911. Police officers are trained to help people thinking about suicide and can take the person to get help.
