  2. Detroit Red Wing Information • History: The Detroit Red Wing’s history dates back to the 1920’s, when the Victoria Cougars from Canada were moved to Detroit on September 25th, 1926. Their NHL franchise was given on May 15, 1926. Detroit did not have an arena at the time, so they played in Windsor, Ontario their first season. They were known as the Cougars until 1930-’31, when they were then changed to the Falcons. They’ve been the Detroit Red Wings from 1932 up until present day. • Retired Jerseys: #1 Terry Sawchuk #6 Larry Aurie #7 Ted Lindsay #9 Gordie Howe #10 Alex Delvecchio #12 Sid Abel • Stanley Cup Champions: 1935-’36, ’36-’37, ’42-’43, ’49-’50, ’51-’52, ’53-’54, ’54-55, ’96-’97, ‘97-’98, 2001-’02. 4. Ending Comments Thanks for taking a peek at my power-point presentation. Now that you know a little more about the Detroit Red Wings, I hope you’ll realize how badly we need hockey back. So please, support your local/national hockey programs because “Kids on ice rarely find themselves in hot water.”
