  3. How long did it last? The battle lasted from February 20, 1862 to February 21, 1862.

  4. Casualties There were 405 total casualties in the battle, 222 belonging to the Union and 187 belonging to the Confederacy.

  5. Outcome The Confederate army was losing for most of the battle until reinforcements came and they succeeded in winning the battle.

  6. Lasting Effects This battle was one of the very few Civil War battles in Texas. It showed that the Confederates were in control in Texas and that they wouldn’t rejoin the Union until the war was over.
