Probably a reference to his family being great warriors. • Early Years ~ • Born in Stratford upon Avon • Family • Richard Shakespeare ~ grandfather • Farmer • John Shakespeare ~ father • Dealing in leather goods and trading wool, grain, and other farm produce.

  3. Schooling • Attended a free school from 6:00 am – 5:00 pm • Studied • Latin • Grammar • Reading • Writing • Catechism

  4. Marriage & Children • Anne Hathaway • She was 26 years old • He was 18 years old • She gave birth to a daughter, Susanna, six months after wedding, on May 26, 1583 • Later to twins, Hamnet and Judith, on February 2, 1585

  11. Shakespeare Controversy • It is believed by some that Shakespeare did not even write his plays, poems & Sonnets • Some scholars have argued that he was neither educated enough or had enough time to write such great work. • There is no evidence to confirm or deny that statement.
