  2. The Bolsover Apprentice • Partnership led apprentice programme • Aims to create 75 apprentice places by March 2012 • Super-nummery posts • Predominantly within public sector organisations but also vol/comm sector. Possibly private sector • Programme focused on three specific target groups

  3. 16-18 year olds • 15 apprenticeship places created within BDC for 16-18 year old NEETs/potential NEETs. • Employed in three cohorts: - Cohort 1: 5 apprentices Jan 2010 - Cohort 2: 5 apprentices Sep 2010 - Cohort 3: 5 apprentices Sep 2011

  4. 18-24 year olds • 40 apprenticeship places created within public and vol/comm sector for 18-24 year olds that have been unemployed 9 months+ • Employed in two cohorts: - Cohort 1: 20 apprentices Jan 2010 - Cohort 2: 20 apprentices Oct 2010 • Group eligible for Future Jobs Fund

  5. 25+ year group • 20 apprenticeship places created within public and vol/comm sector for 25+ year group that have been unemployed 9 months+ and reside within ‘unemployment hotspots’ • Employed in two cohorts: - Cohort 1: 10 apprentices Apr 2010 - Cohort 2: 10 apprentices Oct 2010

  6. Future Jobs Fund • Joint bid with Chesterfield Borough Council • 60 eligible BDC apprentices + 30 CBC • £6,500 per job (x 90 jobs) = £585,000 • Suitable for young people LTU and/or in unemployment hotspots • Employed 37.5 hours per week paid at minimum wage • Estimated duration of apprentice 18 months

  7. Training • Level 2 Apprentices offered in Business and Administration, Customer Service, Amenity Horticulture, Action Leisure and Learning • Routes will be expanded through partners to include Health and Social Care, Advice and Guidance, Community Development, Youth Work, Accounting and Craft/Trade apprenticeships

  8. Programme Co-ordination 3 posts: • Programme Co-ordinator (possibly shared with CBC) • Programme Officer • Business and Admin Apprentice

  9. Programme Costs • Total programme cost £1,664,500 • Funding sought from: • £210,000 partner contribution (£3,500 contribution towards each apprentice) • FJF bid for £390,000 • WNF £1,031,200 • BDC contribution to 16-18 year olds £33,300

  10. Next steps • Await results of FJF bid • Submit application to WNF programme • Appoint staff • Commitment from potential hosting arrangements • Discussions internally with H of S
