FDI in Vietnam in 2007 • 1998 – 2007: 9500 projects with total investment capital of 98 billion USD, in which, implementation capital is 43 billion USD. • In 2007: FDI capital to Vietnam reached 20,3 billion USD. • In 2006 – 2007, FDI sector produced 69 billion USD, in which, export value is 28,6 billion USD.

Czech Investment and trade relations with Vietnam - Investment: + Number of project: 13 projects + Total capital: 49,9 million USD - Trade: + Total import – export turn over in 2007: 255,8 mil USD Vietnam export to Czech: 189,9 mil USD Czech export to Vietnam: 65,9 mil USD + Main products exchanged: Czech exports: machineries and equipments, transport equipments, mechanical products… Czech imports: footwear, textile and clothing; aquaculture products; mechanical products; furniture; craft products; coffee, tea and pepper…

Favorable Investment Environment - Legal frame work much improved: + Law on Investment + Law on Enterprise + Trade Law … - Developing Infrastructure: + 150 industrial zones + highways built + Seaports upgraded - Administrative procedures renovated: + Investment administration decentralized to provincial authorities + One-stop mechanism applied widely

Encouraged Investment Sectors • The manufacture of new materials, production of new energy, manufacture of products of high-technology, biotechnology, IT and mechanical manufacturing; • The breeding, rearing, growing and processing of agricultural, forestry and aquaculture products, production of salt, and creation of new plant and animal varieties; • The use of high technology and advanced techniques, protection of the ecological environment, and investment in research, development and creation of high-technology; • Labor intensive industries; • The construction and development of infrastructure facilities and important industrial projects on a large scale; • The professional development of education, training, health, sports, physical education and Vietnamese culture; • The development of traditional crafts and industries; • Other manufacturing and service sectors that require encouragement.

The List of National Projects calling for foreign investments 2006 – 2010 • INDUSTRY – CONSTRUCTION: 109 projects including: infrastructure construction, mining and metallurgy; mechanics manufacturing; electricity; refine oil and petro-chemistry; chemical industry; building materials industry; new and high-tech. • AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND AQUACULTURE: 6 projects • TOURISM AND SERVICE: 48 projects including: post and telecommunication; medical; education and training; urban infrastructure; restaurant and service.
