  6. JOHN CALVIN • Calvin believed that the ideal government was a THEOCRACY. • Government ruled by religious leaders • Governed the city of Geneva, Switzerland as a theocracy. • Strict Rules • Modest living • No gambling, bright clothing • Precursor to Puritans!
