Does God Exist?

Does God Exist?. Psalms 14:1. The fool says in his heart,    “There is no God.” Ouch, that seems a little strong. We can’t prove, but we do believe. There is much in evidence to confirm our belief. Romans 1:18ff

  2. Psalms 14:1 • The fool says in his heart,    “There is no God.” • Ouch, that seems a little strong.

  3. We can’t prove, but we do believe • There is much in evidence to confirm our belief. • Romans 1:18ff • The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

  4. Romans 1:18-20 • The truth is suppressed. • God has made it plain to the believing heart. • His invisible qualities are seen in what he has created. • He is abundantly knowable. • There is no excuse for not knowing Him, only condemnation.

  5. The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

  12. Prophecy fulfilled • Who but God could predict the future and bring it to pass? • “That power which foretells things beyond the reach of the wit of man, and orders all causes to bring about those predictions , must be an infinite power, the same that made the world, sustains it, and governs all things in it according to his pleasure, and to bring about his own ends; and this being is God” Charnock

  13. A final word from charnock • “Wisdom is the band of human societies, the glory of man. Folly is the disturber of families, cities, nations, the disgrace of human nature.” • The fool says in his heart,    “There is no God.”
