  1. Body Massage Wringing

  2. Wringing wringing is a movement where the tissues are lifted away from the bone, and pushed and wrung from side to side as the hands move up and down across the length of the muscle Roll your mouse over here.

  3. MAJOR BONES OF THE SKELETON Can you identify the bones in the human body? Test your knowledge by attempting the exercise. CLICK HERE TO BONES EXERCISE

  4. EFFECTS AND USES OF WRINGING • Increases circulation to area • Follow this link for interactive revision about cardiovascular system. • Brings nutrients and oxygen • Improves the condition of the skin • Removes waste products • Follow this link for interactive revision about the lymphatic system. • Increases metabolism • Tissue fluid is squeezed from tissue spaces speeding up flow of lymph Further details about the circulatory system Further details about the lymphatic system

  5. CIRCULATORY SYSTEM Massage increases the blood flow through the area being treated, producing hyperaemia and erythema [reddening of the skin] It speeds up flow of blood through the veins. Venous blood carries away waste products more quickly. Massage will relieve pain and stiffness by flushing out metabolic waste and easing pressure on the capilaries. This aids the flow of blood in the tissues. Nutrients and oxygen nourish tissues and aid tissue recovery and repair Massage dilates superficial arterioles and capillaries. This improves the movement of substances in and out of cells via tissue fluid which increases metabolic rate . The viscosity of the blood is reduced .

  6. LYMPHATIC SYSTEM The lymphatic system drains tissue fluid from the spaces between cells It transports tissue fluid and proteins into bloodstream It transports fats from the small intestine to the blood Massage is very effective at speeding flow of lymph in the lymphatic vessels and increasing the drainage of tissue fluid The squeezing action of wringing increases the amount of tissue fluid passing into the vessels to be drained away

  7. EFFECTS AND USES OF WRINGING Increased blood flow raises the temperature of the area slightly , which will aid relaxation and ease pain Improves elasticity and extensibility of tissues Stretches tight facia and tight muscle fibres Eases tension and mobilises large muscle groups, especially before and after exercise

  8. Facia Facia is our soft tissue skeleton, which forms a continuous covering that links our bones, joints and muscles together Facia is a type of connective tissue. It links parts of the body together and is able to transmit some of the force created by muscles. There are two types, superficial and deep. Superficial facia lies beneath the skin and acts as a base which enables the skin to move freely over the tissues below. Deep facia is tougher and more fibrous It is laid down in the direction of stress

  9. EFFECTS AND USES OF WRINGING Stimulates, warms and softens areas of adipose tissue Sedative effect on nerve endings when performed slowly Stimulating effect when performed briskly

  10. Effects of massage on adipose tissue Adipose tissue is a connective tissue made up of cells called adipocytes, which are adapted to store fat. Adipose tissue is found in the subcutaneous layer under the skin and around organs. Massage is thought to help the dispersal of fat because the deeper movements stimulate blood flow to the area. The effect this has is to soften the area and speed up removal via the blood from that area.
