  1. Critical Home Repairs Skagit Habitat for Humanity

  2. Habitat for Humanity’s Mission Statement • “Putting God’s love into action, we bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.” Millard Dean Fuller (1935-2009), Founder of Habitat International

  3. Mission of the Critical Home Repairs Program • While Habitat for Humanity’s major goal is to provide housing to those in need of it, it is now apparent that minor construction projects and repairs for existing homes are also necessary. Qualified applicants will receive the minor home repairs and construction projects required to maintain a safe, dignified and quality home.

  4. How will Habitat for Humanity select a home in need? • Habitat for Humanity will select from the applicants based upon their income, the necessity of the project, and their willingness to partner with the organization.

  5. What can I expect as an applicant? • Critical Home Repair will provide interior and exterior work for houses. • The program will provide repair work such as minor roof repairs, carpentry work, painting, landscaping, weatherization, and tasks necessary for health and safety issues. Critical Home Repair is willing to perform projects like the recent construction of this wheelchair ramp for a homeowner whose health and dignity necessitated it.

  6. What must I provide to receive the aid of this program? • If you consider submitting an application, you must be a homeowner yourself in order to properly qualify for this assistance. The repairs can only be performed on houses applicants own. • A qualified applicant must be able to pay back a no-interest loan to cover the costs of the operation. Payments will be placed into a revolving fund so that the Critical Home Repairs program can provide for others in need of this service. Recipients of this program can gain construction projects like this recently built deck and flight of stairs, provided that they meet the necessary qualifications.

  7. What will Habitat for Humanity provide in the construction process? • Skagit Habitat for Humanity will provide the necessary tools to complete the task, along with the volunteers, the project manager, and the necessary application paperwork. • All labor involved in the project will be voluntarily performed, and some times materials are donated. This is done to insure a low cost of production and that no profits are made during the process.

  8. How can I apply or volunteer to be a part of this program? • If you are interested in either receiving the aid of Critical Home Repair or volunteering your labor to Critical Home Repair, please contact volunteer@skagithabitat.com • Laborers and managers are needed. Please provide your services for a good cause. • We are interested in group work and would greatly appreciate help from churches, businesses, and service organizations like Rotary, Kiwanis, and other similar organizations.

  9. COMMUNITY IMPACT & PARTNERSHIPS Helps create stronger communities and families Families live in safe and well-maintained home Improves neighborhoods revitalization Provides empowering volunteer opportunities Community connections are made Affordable housing inventory is preserved

  10. Thank you very much for your attention and concern! Community Partnerships can make a difference for families in need. This program is self-sustainable and empowers residence and volunteers to work together in the neighborhoods.
