  2. Who We Are- Class of 89 • A group of responsible women who completed our ordinary school certificate exams (‘o’ level) at Aburi Girls Secondary school in the year 1989 • We share a common goal of giving back to our alma mater Class of 89

  3. Aburi Girls Secondary School • A Presbyterian school founded in 1946 • Noted for its emphasis on christian training and character formation, high moral standards and discipline • Rated high for academic excellence • Trained and empowered several women who have and continue to make invaluable contributions to the home, society, Ghana and the world as a whole

Anniversary Project of Class of 89 Background: • In 2005, the 1980 year group in celebrating their 25th anniversary instituted the concept of each year group embarking on a project during its 25th anniversary towards facility improvement in the school • This concept has been widely accepted by alumni and students and implemented to date • The 25th anniversary for Class of 89 is in June 2014

ANNIVERSARY PROJECT OF CLASS OF 89 The chosen project of class of 89: Although some facilities have been renovated and new ones added over the years, sanitary (toilet) facilities have seen very little improvement We intend to build a 20 seater WC toilet facility, behind one of the houses (Aberdeen House) to be used not only by that house but other girls as well

Anniversary Project of Class of 89 c’td Project rationale: • With the exception of 2 houses(Irene Anderson compound and the BarradaleHouse) out of 5, toilet facilities used continue to be the old pit latrine which continues to pose health problems for girls • The 87 year group and a philanthropist recognizing the problem, started projects to provide toilet facilities but was unable to complete it. • We (89 year group) have agreed to continue from where the 87 year group and the philanthropist left off

  7. Benefits of the WC Project Though the 20-seater toilet facility will be located behind one house, it will: • Serve not only the residents of that house but also all other students, especially during classes hours • Reduce the health related issues it poses to the girls • Improve their health and academic performance in turn • Contribute to churning out girls who will become responsible role models, leaders, mothers, wives, sisters etc. committed to building the home, church, society and country at large

Project Schedule and Monetary Issues • Commencement: September 2013 • Completion: February 2014 • Estimated cost of project is GH¢36,964.13 cedis • Each member of the Class of 89 has been levied a minimum of GH¢ 500 towards the project • Our levies will be inadequate to cover full cost We need Your Full or Partial support In Cash Or in Kind

  9. Benefits of Sponsoring Our Project • Provision of advertisement space in widely circulated anniversary brochure increasing your organization/company’s visibility and patronage by clients • Sign at project site ( depends on level of support) • Fulfillment of social responsibility
