    5. Honors Courses No single criteria will automatically exclude any student from a course. If a student meets at least one of the following requirements, that student will be eligible for Honors level courses at the secondary level 1.       Teacher recommendation 2.       “C” or better in previous similar subject Honors class 3.       Report card grades of advanced in the specific subject on the grade 6 Standards-Based Report of Progress or a grade of 85% or better in similar subject College Preparatory class

    6. 7th Grade English On Level: 4-6 major writing assignments Introductory strategies/skills in writing 3 novels; grade level appropriate materials Read and analyze short stories, plays, nonfiction and poetry Honors: 6-8 writing assignments Introductory & advanced strategies/skills in writing 5 novels; very challenging materials Read and analyze short stories, plays, nonfiction and poetry

    7. 7th Grade Mathematics Pre-Algebra Part I Problem-solving Discovery method approach Separate texts per topic Connected Mathematics Project Honors Pre-Algebra Preparing students for Algebra I (grade 8) Traditional text Mathematics PLUS 7 Meets two days per week. Additional math course that supports the regular education program. All concepts aligned with PA Standards Computer based program, “Larson Mathematics”
