  3. AWF-6 Executive Summary • IMT-Advanced • IMT WG : Information sharing on ITU-R WP5D, IEEE, 3GPP activities • IMT Spectrum • UHF band : UHF Report by gathering information on UHF usage plan • 2.3GHz : APT frequency arrangement commenced • 2.5GHz : first discussion within AWF. Need further consideration • ETC ( related with CJK-B3G ) • New Vice chairman (Mr.Satoh, ARIB) elected !!! – CONGRATURATION! • Establishment of New group for CR/SDR

  4. IMT Spectrum : Digital Dividend • Workplan • ~ Sep. 2009(AWF-7) : Finalization of first Report on UHF band usage • ~ 2Q. 2010( AWF-9) : Finalization of APT harmnoized freq. arrangement • Contents of APT Draft Report • Responses of Questionnaire (12 administrations) • Other regional activities ( CEPT, USA) • Industry views on frequency arrangements • Follow-up Activities • Re-circulation of Questionnaires to APT administrations • Liaison to ITU-R WP5D on UHF digital dividend activities

  5. IMT Spectrum : 2 300 – 2 400MHz • Workplan • ~ Sep. 2009(AWF-7) : Finalization of APT freq. arrangement • Activities in AWF-6 • Initiating AWF Report : • APT contribution to ITU-R WP5D • Propose the deletion of flexible FDD/TDD mode in current M.1036 working document • Follow-up Activities • Circulation of 2.3GHz & 2.5GHz questionnaires to APT administrations

  6. New Sub WG 7 : SDR & CR • Term of Reference • To share the information and review the activities on the development of SDR and CRS in relevant ITU-R Working Parties, Standard Development Organizations (SDOs) and relevant organisations. • To exchange views on the studies of SDR and CRS undertaken by APT members. • To consider and prepare, as appropriate, APT Recommendations on frequency bands for the use of SDR&CRS technologies in Asia-Pacific countries. • To prepare APT Report(s) on technologies and regulatory implications associated with SDR & CRS, application scenarios, impacts on existing radio services and guidelines to the administrations on introducing SDR & CRS.

  7. Closing Remarks(1/3) • Possible area for CJK cooperation • UHF digital dividend ? • ~ 2009 : Completion of UHF band usage • ~2010 : Completion of harmonized band plan • 2 300 – 2400 MHz frequency arrangement ? • ~ 2009 : completion of APT Report • 2 500 – 2 690 MHz ?

  8. Closing Remarks(2/3) • Possible area for CJK cooperation • SDR /CR ? - What kind of CJK role could be defined among various bodies? TTA PG705(CR) CCSA ? ARIB ? AWF SWG 7 ITU-R WP5A APG ITU-R WP5D WRC-11 AI 1.19* * To consider regulatory measures and their relevance, inorder to enable the introduction of software defined radio and cognitive radio systems ,based on the results of ITU-R studies
