Important notes about thoreau -He wrote 1000 copies of his first book:a week on the Concord and merrimack rivers:275 book sold -his second book walden:didn t make the best seller list either when it was published in 1854 -walden shows the reader how to live wisely in a world designed to make wise living impossıible. -it was a travel guide for the mind. -many scholars consider thoreau to be the father of the American conservation and preservation movements.

Thoreau strongly objected to the war on several fronts • İn 1846 ,the town constable asked him to pay his poll tax. • He flat-out refused to ante up (kumarda onceden kesılen para) what he owed 1.50&. • He was taken to the prison. • When his friend,emerson,visited him in the jail,he asked him why are you here,dear?,he answered him:why aren t you here? • Look at that and think about the answer.(WAR )
