  2. Program Goals • provide training on a range of environmental and sustainability topics • raise awareness of environmental issues and options • prepare individuals for entry into various energy and water related jobs or businesses • Position SFCC as a premier provider of Environmental Training

  3. Program Description • Non-credit courses offered in Continuing Education provide: • Easy access • No pre-requisites • Flexible scheduling • Hands-on training with professionals in their respective fields

Spring 07 classes • Sustainable Energy Technologies Certificate • Instructors: Mark Sardella and Frank Currie • February 3, 10, 17, 24 (Saturdays) • Renewable Energy Solar Electric Installation Certificate (CID approved) • Instructor: Adi Pieper • March 3, 10, 24, 31 (Saturdays) • Water Conservation Technologies • Instructor: Richard Jennings • April 7, 14, 21, 28 (Saturdays)

Spring 07 con’t Introduction to Climate Change • Instructor: Mark Zondlo • January 31, February 7, 21, 28 (Wednesdays) Sustainable Community Development • Instructor: Jessie Emerson • March 7, 14, 17, 21 ( 3 Wednesdays + 1 Saturday) • Wednesdays on campus • March 17, field trip Pathways to Sustainability • Instructor: Amanda Bramble • April 4 and April 11

  8. Future Plans • Expand CE course offerings to respond to community and industry needs • Proposed future courses: • Energy Rater program • Passive Solar • Advanced Solar Electric • Advanced Solar Hot Water • On-line course development

  9. Credit program • Associate of Applied Science in Environmental Technologies degree presented and approved by Curriculum Committee • First two courses: ENVR 111 and ENVR 112 approved and under development • Planned rollout of degree program fall 2007 pending HED approval

  10. AAS credit program continued • Program to be housed in Business and Technologies Division • Developed by Director of Workforce Training and Dean of B&T • Advisory committee members identified and invited to serve • CE courses bridge to credit course development
