  19. The answer is Think and Searchc. because they can’t feed and protect themselves In the first paragraph we find information that tells us the mother protects and feeds the rabbits in their burrow. These are Important things for survival.

  20. Choose the correct answer 2. What is the main idea of this passage? • a rabbit’s life cycle • baby rabbits are blind • mother rabbits protect their young • baby rabbits leave the burrow early

  25. The answer is THINK AND SEARCHd. They have fur, can see, and protect themselves The second paragraph says they have grown fur and have opened their eyes. The last paragraph says that after three months they leave for good.

  26. TRY THIS WITH YOUR TEACHER Read the paragraph and try to decide what kind of QAR is being asked.

  27. When baby rabbits are born they have no fur. Their eyes are not open and they cannot see. Their mother protects them and feeds them in their burrow. In a few weeks the young rabbits have grown fur and have opened their eyes. They are old enough to explore outside their burrow. When they are three months old they leave the burrow for good.

  28. Choose the correct answer • Why do rabbits leave their burrows after three months? • they get bored and frustrated • they want to find friends • they can take care of themselves • they want to explore their surroundings

  29. What QAR did you use? Why is it the right answer?

  30. The answer is AUTHOR AND MEc. They can take care of themselves Since the text says the rabbits leave the burrow for good, you can infer that they will be able to live on their own and take care of themselves.

  31. Choose the correct answer • Who finds food for the three month old rabbits? • their mother • other rabbits • humans • themselves

  32. What QAR did you use? Why is it the right answer?

  33. The answer is AUTHOR AND MEd. themselves Since the text says that the mother finds the food when the baby rabbit is in the burrow, and when they leave they leave for good, I can infer that the baby rabbit must find food for himself.

  34. Choose the correct answer • What kind of place is a burrow? • a home for a rabbit • a place for a rabbit to be born • a place for a rabbit to store food • a place for a rabbit to hide

  35. What QAR did you use? Why is it the right answer?

  36. The answer is AUTHOR AND MEa. A home for a rabbit Because the text says that the mother rabbit feeds and protects the baby rabbit inside the burrow, and they don’t leave it until they are old enough to explore outside, I can infer that this is where the rabbits live.

  37. TRY THIS WITH YOUR TEACHER Read the paragraph and try to decide what kind of QAR is being asked.

  38. A school is a place where people go to learn. Kids learn math, spelling, reading, science, and social studies. Many people go to special schools. Some of these schools teach people to be doctors and nurses. Some teach art and music. Schools help people to become what they want to be.

  40. What QAR did you use? Why is it the right answer?

  41. The answer is ON MY OWNa. by teaching me to be responsible for what I learn Since my school teaches me all of those things, then c, d, or e by itself would not be a complete answer. However, I have heard my parents and teachers say that in order to become what I want to be, I have to learn responsibility.
