  2. 2010 and Summer Recap • Team qualified for state – second consecutive year • All-conference: Erik Porter, Nathan Berger, Jake Kist • MVA: Erik Porter • Tuesday Hit-arounds: 10 boys, 4 girls, 5 alumni, 1 visitor • Aberdeen, Prairie Rose, JTT, camps, Bis Open

  3. Forms and Fees • Forms Needed to Participate • Physical *needed every year • Rights and Responsibilities • Concussion form Know the Risks Video Concussion in Sports • $40 fee for all players • Make checks out to Mandan High School

  4. Sportsmanship • 1. Only cheer on winning shots • 2. Do not cheer on unforced errors • 3. Do not talk to the competitors while they are on the court • 4. Do not assist in keeping score, even if asked • Ask a coach if you are unsure

  5. Dress and Uniform • Practice • Weather appropriate clothing, pants/shorts with pockets • Matches • Black shorts with pockets • Correct/Team identifying shirt

  6. Cell Phones • Turned off or silent • Acceptable uses: • Calling for rides • Informing parents of court sites • Change of court site • Ask a coach before using your phone

  7. Medical Conditions • Inform a coach about specific medical conditions • Allergies • Asthma • Other

  8. Practice • 1st Practice – August 8th • 1st 2 Weeks: 9:00-11:00 am and 2:00-4:00 pm • Beginning August 22nd – 4:30-6:30 • Wednesdays – 4:30-6:00 • @Middle School courts • Mandatory morning run(s) for Varsity

  9. Beating the Heat • Drink a glass of water 30 min to 1 hour before match or practice • Replenish all lost fluids after practice • To help build muscle and for muscle recovery, eat protein (ex. meat, chocolate milk, …)

  10. Challenges • Begin Wednesday August 10 in the afternoon • Helps determine the lineup

  11. Matches • Varsity plays first, then JV • Exhibition matches are possible for lower JV • All players stay until the last match is finished and courts are picked up

  12. Trips • Time to bond and have fun • Match time = total concentration • Remember, we are representing our families, school, and city

  13. Lettering Criteria • A player letters if he: • Plays in a Varsity match during the season • Earns a letter determined by the coaches
