Prototype stack de MOSFETs en série de 30kV pour modulateur d’anode. Réalisation pratique par Nicolas David!

  4. Fulvio Boattini Education: Electrical Engineer graduated at the Politecnico of Milano (Italy) Personal situation: 39 years old, married with 2 children: Marco and Bianca Most recent experiences: 2006-2009: member of the R&D team at GE digital Energy. The company develops and build UPS ranging from 10kVA up to 750kVA. There I was technical project leader for the development of the new 500kVA unit that replaced the old one. This unit was provided with a unity power factor front end (buck rectifier). 2001-2006: member of the R&D team at ASIRobicon (Italy) (best known as Ansaldo sistemi industriali). The company develops and builds medium voltage drives in the multi-megawatt range mostly for electric motors control. In this company I took part to the development of the IGCT based 3 level voltage source converter of the size of 9 and 12MVA. 1996-2001: member of the ABB research group in S.San Giovanni (Italy). I made here my thesis job on the dimensioning of a PM axial flux motor for marine propulsion. After that I was employed as FE electromagnetic analysis “expert” for the dimensioning of High Voltage components (Current transformer, PASS substation parts) and electromagnetic actuators for MV contactors.

  5. Ivan De Cesaris Born in Rome, 1977 Higher School: Roma, Ind. Electronics University: Roma III, Electronical Eng. 2000, 6 months: Dafne Superconductors Magnets: installation and fine tuning of compensators and revelators December 2002 – December 2007: CNAO project: Specification, design, installation and running of power converters January 2008 – May 2009: Dafne collider and SPAR-C fel project (LNF-INFN) Specification, design, installation and running of power converters CNAO Sinch. Ring Dipoles P.S. 1600 V – 3000 A, 10 ppm SCR’s 24 pulses, 6000 A/s (published on IEEE Transaction) CNAO Resonance Sextupole P.S. 400 V – 650 A, 50 ppm PWM-IGBT, 65 kA/s (Poster presented at EPAC ’06) • CNAO Switching Dipole P.S. • 660 V – 540 A, <100 ppm • 100 kA/s • (Winner of NI Award), EPAC ‘08

  6. EPC resources LD to IC exercise result 7 people concerned by their end of contract Carlos, Stephen, Marcel, Nicolas, Philippe, Hafid, Jacky 6 open posts Carlos declined DCRB result: 5 Indefinite Contracts Marcel Tignolet Jacky Spiller Hafid Kadir Stephen Page Nicolas David Next exercise in November: 9 people concerned My feeling on the Department Contract Review Board: experienced people, global view, demanding!

  7. Contract policy New contract policy from 1st August 2009 5 year contract, no extension LD can apply for IC after one year No limit on application IC post will be published Candidate have to apply A short list will be done to select the candidature for the board A panel (With or without the group leader) will select the candidate The target ratio for IC contract over LD is ~50% (fixed by the DG) The goal is to keep 30% of staff in LD (which is the present ratio) It is now a competition! I expect that the ratio will be higher for EPC but it can’t be 100%.

  8. Promotion The promotion budget is 1.88% Indexation in 2009 = 2.7% !!! 25% of one step was mandatory by the DG! The promotion will be distributed by SL or supervisor next week. Change of career path: Hugues Thiesen E => F Change of salary band: Laurent Ceccone Db => Dc Gilles Le Godec Eb => Ec band a => b automatic

  9. TE/EPC 67 staff – 3 (André, Gianni, Patrice) Average age = 41 years 1 fellow: Sylvie Dubettier-Grenier 1 doctoral student, LIC 1 UPAS: Marine Helena Viegas 10 career path B 18 career path C 16 career path D 21 career path E 2 career path F 18 people with LD contract 23 people on shift work HR will try to improve the recruitment situation!

  10. TE/EPC organization chart • Change in the group organization • David Nisbet => Section leader FPC • David Nisbet => project leader LN4 • Hugues Thiesen => • project leader LHC upgrade phase 1 • PS2 • New electronics • Integration of ex-EL members => Very good! • Communication • EPC technical committee • SLM minutes • HR follow-up: Lore is in our building every Thursday pm • EPC support to others groups: Very good contribution! • QPS cabling (EN/EL) • QPS power supply (TE/MPE) • Power supply for Cryo (EN/EL)

  11. TE/EPC list of representative

  12. TE/EPC Budget Some numbers: operation: 4.4 MCHF LN4: 0.6 MCHF POPS: 12 MCHF Consolidation: 2 MCHF Total: 19 MCHF These numbers are not exacts!!! Never mind, Dorothée is watching us with close!!

  13. Safety Our safety linkman: Valérie Montabonnet Training course “Habilitation électrique”, Access to LHC: B0, H0 Coordination and follow-up of all the TSO of the group Report to the DSO (Patrick Lienard) & RSO (Michel Jonker) New rule for crane: you can use only cranes which are on your list Incident MPS: lesson learning = use the appropriate instrument! Watch your step and clean your workplace! Wear the protective clothes: safety shoes, helmet & jacket Use scaffolding 1

  14. EPC challenges Validation of prototypes for LINAC4 New electronics for LINAC4 & Co Commissioning of POPS, infrastructure, power & control SVC operation, training & safety Freddy’s interview : The LHC first and foremost! Restart the LHC in the coming months, working 24H/24H QPS work-package to be delivered on time! Radiation issue for LHC converters => presented as the most critical equipments The world is watching us!
