  1. A robust portfolio of interoperable solutions Getting started with IndustrialIT Certification Document# 3BSE042726, September 2005

  2. ABB and 3rd Party 800xA Extensions 800xA 800xA Hardware 800xA Software Certified Products Industrial IT Strategy & Definition Industrial IT is ABB’s commitment to open interconnectivity of Automation and Power solutions and services, leveraging the ABB portfolio, 3rd party products and the relevant standards to deliver Continuous Productivity Improvement for our customers: • System 800xA is the core of Industrial IT • Integrated ABB & 3rd party products complete the IIT portfolio • Industrial IT products will be “integrated” on market need basis • Only products that have been tested to prove their integration capability will be marketed as Industrial IT enabled. • Industrial IT enables ABB to provide three core values to our customers: • Reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) • Increase Production Output • Reduced Risk and Improved Safety

  3. Industrial IT Architecture At the core of Industrial IT is an information architecture that seamlessly links equipment and applications in real time. Industrial IT technology consists of: • Single window environment for information access • Context sensitive decision and action tools • Unique object-oriented architecture • Certified “building blocks” for maximum interoperability • Field bus technology support for intelligent devices Verified by Certification

  4. Value of Certification • Certification is focused on integration and usability: • Installation • Documentation • Operation • Certification testing verifies a products installation, documentation and operation with respect to System 800xA, providing: • Assurance of non-interference and integrated system test • Documentation of required configuration and test results • Certificate • Formal certificate defining product and 800xA versions • Certified product data sheet • Value proposition identification

  5. Certification Alternatives • Product included within System 800xA and certification handled as part of the 800xA release program • Decision by System Focus Team (SFT) • Based on existing system requirements specification (SRS) • Product integrated with 800xA based on market requirements • Product owner develops integration • ABB partners available to develop and maintain integration • Costs paid by product owner • Certification independent of System 800xA release schedule

  6. Certification Centers • Main Center: Vasteras, Sweden Certification Manager: Rolf Setthammar • Americas Center: Wickliffe, Ohio, USA Responsible: Tem Murray • Device Integration Center (fieldbus technology): Minden, Germany: Responsible: Detlef Bierwagen Bangalore, India: Responsible: Ajay-Krishna Koppam First Point of Contact: Rolf Setthammar

  7. Product Requirements • Internal / External market requirements: • Performance, functionality (external) • Product deliver as stand alone or part of an Industrial IT system • Certification will ensure that the internal market requirements are met: • Product has an ABB identity that makes the product unique and traceable • Product is well documented • Product has a defined quality (follows gate model) • Product is supported in an Industrial IT system • Integrated product will meet technical requirements according to IIT Certification checklist

  8. Certification Pre-requisite The electronic documentation object (.afw file) is a pre-requisite for Industrial IT Certification. ABB Gate Model GO – Identification of project G1 – MRS G2 – SRS / project plan G3 – System design G4 – Document / release plan G5 – Beta / type test reports G6 – R&D project closed G7 – Product feedback Local product management and development Prepare EDP Object Gather Documentation Product definition Finalize Product identification Classification Quality Production Reference Document 9AKK100809 Fill in Check list Create Afw-object Upload to ABB library (ABB PLM) Submit to Certification manager (3rd party)

  13. Certification – How to get started • Contact Main Certification Center with request • Submit existing documentation / product description • The Certification Center will provide certification checklist for completion • Based on documentation and checklist, the Certification Manager will: • Advise correct certification alternative • Advise testing considerations (simulation / hardware requirements) • Determine preliminary test schedule • Integration requirements to be defined (with Certification and PLM/SFT) • Upon completion of test candidate • Finalize test schedule and location with the Certification Center • Certification test • Test of installation and operation in 800xA test system • Completion of test report • Delivery of Certificate

  14. Where to find detailed information Detailed certification documentation can be found on the new Industrial IT Portal on inside.abb (live in October 2005). • Go to inside.abb • Divisions • Automation Technologies • Industrial IT Industrial IT Portal Industrial IT Available Documents
